Episode #11 - Australian Adventure Recap!

To start - THANK YOU ALL FOR THE REVIEWS!!!!! They made my day to get back to that. :)

What I’m Kniting/Spinning
-Finished my 2nd doughnut on the plane from STL to LA.
-The scarf is FINISHED!!!!!

...just a few days before the due date. :)

...just a few days before the due date. :)

-Cast on for my two-tone shrug at the LA airport. Then passed out. Leaving literally just the cast on row.

Adventures in KIPing
-I really didn’t get any KIP comments in Australia. Kind of a bummer. But, I do have three yarn store adventures.
-1st yarn shop: In Brisbane, we walked to a place called Tangled Yarns which is in an area they call “The Valley.”
-2nd shop: Not really just a yarn shop, more of a big box type place called Lincraft. We went to the one in Brisbane by accident and one is Sydney was literally right across the street.
-3rd yarn shop: Morris & Sons, formerly Tapestry Craft - though the sign still says Tapestry Craft and the ‘new’ name is nowhere to be found.

Ooh Shiny
-I think it’s pretty clear that the last 11 days have been quite shiny. I’ve broken the days into sections as well, so I can share my favorite picture from each day. The pictures from the whole trip can be found on my Flickr collection here.
-The first day was actually 2 days long - arrived at 6am, just did sight seeing and wandering.
-The 2nd day we wandered more.
-Day 3 we did media things in the morning. Here’s the Today Show AU interview! Then we went to the koala sanctuary which was hands down the coolest thing in the whole entire world.
-Day 4 was the big working day.
-Day 5 we flew to Sydney. We walked about the city, which was a lot smaller than I expected.
-Day 6 was a Manly Australian adventure.
-Day 7 we went to Darling Harbor and wandered around.
-Day 8 -   Visited the Apple store in Sydney. Bought $60 worth of candy. Mostly licorice.
-Day 9 - Headed back to the states. Got recognized at the airport! Day 9 actually lasted about 40 hours. It was the longest Monday ever.

Never Ending Queue
-I got an awesome pattern pamphlet called “Little & Friends” that was created by a resident of Sydney. It’s got 10 little garter stitch buddies that look like quick and fun knits.

Flavor Of The Week
-The Cadbury Whip. Like a milky way, but more delicious caramel.

Episode #10 - Whirlwind Before Australia!

A bit of a whirlwind before taking off for down under, but I’m so excited!!! There will be an Australian episode, so look for that next weekend!!!

What I’m Kniting/Spinning
-Three rounds on a doughnut. :)
-BUT I taught two people to spin at knit night. Shilo is babysitting Stella while I’m away, and Erin has her turn at my drop spindle. I think they’ll both be faboo spinners. :)

Adventures in KIPing
-Another stoplight story.

Ooh Shiny
-AUSTRALIA!!!!!!!
-Got a few of the recommended books - a few are audio and some are old school.
-Work contract ended. Love and tears.

Flavor Of The Week
-Target has fresh produce!

Episode #9 - Only Half Way Done. But Less Than A Week Away.

What I’m Kniting
-Up until last night, I had not touched the lace scarf in over a week. I’m trying to find a way to bribe myself to work on it… I’ve got 10.5 repeats done, which to my best guess is about half way.

30 Inches!

30 Inches!

-Got the yarn and am ready to cast on for the Two Toned Shrug. My newly knitting co-worker and I are doing a knit a long.

Ooh Shiny
-Had a lovely dinner with knitting friend Erin last Tuesday. But I managed to ruin the night by getting quite sick in her neighbor’s yard. Kind of funny now that it’s a week in the past, but yuck. Thought it was fast food that I had for lunch, but it turns out that Barq’s rootbeer has caffeine. And when you haven’t had it for several months, and then you have 44 oz of soda with caffeine, it makes your heart race, chest tight, and then you yuke. In your friend’s neighbor’s yard.
-Wednesday I got Scott from the airport.
-Thursday was packing up the office… It’s so strange to pack up and building and leave after you’ve been there for 9 months… It made it painfully real that I’ll be gone in just a week. :(

Disassembled office. :(

Disassembled office. :(

-Went to see “Away We Go” Thursday night… It was very cute. So much of the movie was us just laughing SO hard because 75% of John Krazinski’s character is just like Scott. I felt it could have ended better… Now is not the time for all this uncertainty in movies.
-Friday was an off day since they’re moving everything to the new building… Took Scott to the airport again, and he’ll be back Saturday night.
-More Aussie plans… I got a 5 pc suitcase set from Kohls and finally chose the underwater camera I thought would be best. I went with the Olympus 550WP. It takes videos well as pictures, so that should be really neat. I’m hoping to test it out tomorrow at my parent’s house.
-Plane reading. Anyone got suggestions?

Never Ending Queue
-Picked up the fall issu  e of KnitScene at Borders today:

KnitScene Fall 2009

KnitScene Fall 2009

-Carnaby Pullover - sort of thermal looking with fake buttons.
-Caterpillar-sitich pullover - like the idea, wouldn’t use that texture, but neat. (Not in Ravelry yet)
-Maximum stripe pullover - love the buttons on the shoulder and texture. They have a lot of shoulder buttons in this issue, I love them.
-There are also a few really, really terrible things in there, but I won’t talk about those. :)

Flavor Of The Week
-Sonic’s Cherry Limeade Chiller - DELISH!

Next week’s episode will be a bit early, as we leave for Australia on Friday. Chances are, it will be 100% rambling, filled with ‘eeps’ and squeals about being excited and plans. But, I still plan on recording, it just may not be exciting, haha.
